The Hoody Range Introducing “Low Pressure” and Big Southerly” The designs and concept After many painstaking hours of hand drawing and after being digitally re mastered (by Mark Director of Mr and Mr Smith Design), now we are proud to launch the Hoody range. Big Southerly and Low Pressure are terms that live will all carp anglers. Yeh when we can go we do but when the weather man looks like he’s got it right and the Low Pressure is moving in we just cant wait to get the rods out. Imagine just setting up late in the evening and the wind picks up and now there’s a good ripple right over the baited areas, as you drift off to sleep you just know it’s a matter of time. To us carp angling means “Low Pressure” its time to un-wind, spend some quality time on the bank on our own or with mates perusing our chosen quarry. The carp, what a creature so majestical, magical, mythical and infuriating, but when the conditions are right and the “Big Southerly” is blowing we know the tide has turned! Imagine a Big Southerly during Low pressure!? Not only are Hoodys a practical garment to wear down the lake with the pockets and the hood to keep the autumnal northerly drafts out, but are equally at home up the shops or for a bite of lunch down the pub. The best place to wear the hoodie would be down the café in the morning when ordering breakfast when accompanied by mushrooms! At Mr and Mrs Smith Design all the project team know carp all too well, the girls would say much too well and the blokes would say not nearly enough, hey ho. We love our fishing and wear most of the T Shirts carp angling has to offer, the highs the lows, the hook pulls the perfect cast, the elusive common, the monster mirror, being in the teeth of the big southerly. Honestly we have deliberated for hours over these designs, the colours and the best garments. Ok we would be fools to not go with a green but with the heavily artistic design why not break from the norm and go with a slightly different shade? Known as Dark Heather we thought this to be a real cool shade, is it petrol blue or grey, perhaps with a hint of charcoal? We think it looks mighty fine whilst going down the pub for a pint. O and doesn’t the word Heather mean so much to all of us carp anglers especially when combined with the word “leather”. Our lovely young lady in the photos (one of the partners niece) kindly offered to have her picture taken with the new hoody, (a 21 year old university student and part time model,) she loved the Hoodies so much (no she didn’t buy the company, you must be as old as us to know what that means) as far as we know she still has it on! It’s for sure it went home with her and never been seen in Newcastle since!! But what an endorsement to the product when a delightful young lady puts on the garment to model then just ever so politely asks if she can keep it! Testimony indeed to the design garment and overall look and feel to the product. All joking apart, these garments were worn on the banks and slept in and found to be proper comfy with the micro fibre lining, just a bit of creature comfort whilst on the bank as the cool autumnal and winter nights draw in. It was hard coming up with a garment that would look good, be comfortable but take a bit of hammer through the brambles. I think we have all had the new winter coat, great in the house then; first circuit round the lake the first tear is there another hundred quid done. Now we can’t guarantee that these hoodies are indestructible, but we will say that that they are robust and offer that compromise between being tough but still soft enough to sleep in, ahhhh. Again comfort is important, especially when doing a quick over nighter and work the next day, we found these hoodies a bit warm for the summer in the bag, but when the night time figures certainly drop in to single figures there great! Technical specification These hoody’s are a heavy blend of 50% cotton and 50% polyester. The air jet spun yarn creates an amazing soft feel and makes them more durable especially with the twin needle stitching ideal for the time spent carp hunting through the undergrowth or climbing up the trees in pursuit of the quarry. For the colder nights, sitting out drinking tea watching for any and every ring in the surface film the hood has double fabric and hands can be kept warm in the front pouch. Hoody’s are now common place on the banks and are not reserved for urban wear, but carp fishing has moved on, the clothing has got to look as good as the rods! However it must still be and in our minds must be 100% functional, there’s no point looking good if the clothing doesn’t let allow freedom of movement letting the casting technique send a fully laden spod out to the chosen spot whilst taking another coat of paint off the marker float. With everything being so available to the modern day carper Smith Hoodies will once again keep the discerning angler a step ahead, at least of the clothing front. Why buy a Smith Hoody? Carp fishing hoodies have been around for some time now and the competition fierce, but how many have got a quality screen printed image that has been drawn by a carp angler for the carp angler? Mark has been carp angling for year and this comes through in the design, the passion for the quarry, the water, being at one and surrounded by nature. These are hoodies for anglers, designed by carp anglers. That is until the misses “borrows” it. O well that’s why there’s the internet we will gladly supply another to go angling in. Why not just get the job over and done with in the first instance and buy the two straight off and therefore avoiding any conflict at a later date!? In today’s market this was a brave move, starting up a new venture under such circumstances, but we and the team at Smith Clothing hope it has been worthwhile and you come with us on our journey. “From small beginnings do large things grow”. The intention is to keep things in control so the personal service never goes. Just drop us a line and will respond. Order a Hoody and it will arrive (post willing, very few items actually get lost in the post you know!). We are all totally committed to a first class customer service, we are and will be bench marked against the rest of the retailers out there, we know we are good at what we do and are customers ourselves I guess what we are saying is there’s no real reason in our control why you should not be completely satisfied. In these times of social media there’s no hiding place, so check us out and our feedback, and likes on facebook and lets let the customers of Mr and Mrs Smith Clothing decide. We have spent quality time with the local printers who are local to us, inks have been carefully chosen and test runs done to get the look perfect. We wanted to work with a local printer and they are keen to work with us. After all it’s our reputations on the line. We promise you no waffle just straight talk and honesty. If the Hoody is not available we will offer an alternative. If that’s not what you are after we will refund your money or give you a very good idea of when the Hoodie will be in stock. We keep a good and comprehensive level of stock but you never can tell who and when people are going to buy. Keep an eye on our feedback on our facebook page. To date we have been flattered and honoured by the kind words, thank you! We hope to maintain our image through the designs and enhance our reputation by offering and exceptional level of customer service. It’s we guess not surprising that we are getting the idea that some anglers are ordering the Hoodys for the misses, this is fantastic! When the first samples arrived my business partners son, a typical 14 year old teenage lad grudging “offered” to try one on. Next thing we know and having said “nothing” he was wearing it around Metro Centre. Are these hoodies going to be as excepted down the shops as well as down the carp lakes? Mr and Mrs Smith is a family business and our business, not some one else’s business so your hoody should reach you in perfect condition. If by some bizarre twist of fate it does not please let us now straight away. Behind every good designer there’s a good women or two in this instance. All are partners two are anglers and two are mums but all are equally determined to keep the oils of industry turning and get your garments out on time and in perfect condition. By the time this is read the hoodies will start to be out there by the lakes and being worn by anglers. We could waffle on for hours but check out u tube and facebook and see what people are saying. It was such a nervous time launching a new business in such a competitive market in these tough times, but if there’s a itch it had to be scratched and no longer could these designs be kept on the hard drive, they needed to be in the fresh air out on the banks, up the trees and smelling of carp. Do you want to order or buy a hoodie as a gift or for a special occasion? Please drop us a line from the contact us at Smith Clothing and we would be delighted to help. That’s another Christmas present sorted! The future O just as a heads up, this is just the beginning the creative bounds of Smith Clothing know no limits, keep checking the site as you never know what might be coming next. The ideas box is more of a Hoody locker full of bold and almost meditational designs. Did we say hoodies watch this space you never know what may be coming next. Just for fun! Hints and tips for wearing Hoodies: Never ever keep anything in a hoody pocket that one needs to rely on or is vital when on a long session. These things include but are not limited too: iphone, blackberry, lighter, fags, Polaroid glasses, car keys (especially when climbing trees, how did we learn this one oops..). Hoodie pockets are great for hands! When preparing to take a picture of your latest and last proud capture think; have I tucked the drawstring down the front of the Hoody? Or do you want the drawstring stuck to the flank of your personal best? Just a minor detail but one that will not be missed by your mates!! You will know if they are good mates as they will tell you before the fish goes back! Thank you A massive thanks to you all for your messages of support and likes on facebook, an even more massive thanks to all of you that have ordered a hoodie! All joking apart we hope you enjoy wearing your hoodie and whether it’s in military green for down the lake or dark heather down the pub, a little bit of fun and quality will be going with you! Tight lines to you all from the Mr and Mrs Smith Clothing Team!
